Plant medicine is an area of Spiritual Alchemy that I am fascinated with and it's inspired me to learn more about our plant friends and grow them in our backyard garden so that I can experience them and learn from them directly. From time to time I will be posting recipes here that I find delicious and health promoting.
Lemon Tea
Here's another great tasting and healthy tea recipe for you. I drink this tea in the winter when my supply of other fresh herbs is a bit low. I love it because of its detoxifying effects, how it helps ease my digestion and its many other health benefits. It’s crazy to think that something as simple as lemon juice could make such a big difference, but when I dug deeper into the science behind it, I could see why.

Ingredients
1 medium lemon
Boiled filtered water
Half or quarter teaspoon of honey
Sprig of lemon balm (optional)

Method
Cut lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a tea cup by hand or using a citrus squeezer. Place a teaspoon with the honey on it in the cup and pour the boiling water over the honey so it slides off the spoon. Rinse the lemon balm and add to the cup. Stir liquid until honey is dissolved. Remove the lemon balm after it has had time to infuse.

TIP: For a natural laxative and sleep enhancer add one teaspoon of Epsom Salts (magnesium sulphate) to this recipe an hour before bedtime.
